Tesla Launches New Long-Range Model Y in China

Tesla officially released a new Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive model in China on November 8, priced at RMB 288,500 (about $40,500). Unlike the standard RWD version, this is not a reduced-feature model, making it a standout value in the lineup.

Second-Cheapest Model Y, But With Record-Breaking Range

This new variant becomes the second-cheapest Model Y in China, sitting just above the entry-level RWD and priced lower than dual-motor AWD models. Despite the lower price, its range is one of the highest ever for a Model Y.

Up to 821 km (510 miles) on a Single Charge

The biggest highlight is its impressive range. According to CLTC testing, the new Model Y offers 821 km (about 510 miles) of driving per charge. It uses a 78.4 kWh CATL battery pack, helping eliminate long-distance range anxiety for drivers.

302 HP Single-Motor Setup and 0–100 km/h in 5.6 Seconds

The vehicle is equipped with a 225 kW (302 hp) single-motor powertrain and reaches 0–100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 201 km/h. The battery is the same LG Energy Solution pack used in the 830 km version of the Model 3.

China Now Has Multiple Model Y Variants, Including the Recently Launched Model Y L

Tesla has introduced several unique Model Y versions specifically for China, including the Model YL, which features a longer wheelbase, extended leg support, and captain seats with armrests for added comfort.
