Tesla FSD Plans to Enter Chinese and European Markets in Q1 Next Year

This afternoon, without any prior announcement, the official "Tesla AI" account on Platform X proactively released the roadmap for the FSD self-driving software for the upcoming months:

In response to widespread user demand, the Tesla AI team shared the following roadmap:

September 2024

  • Version 12.5.2: Increases the miles between necessary interventions by approximately threefold
  • Version 12.5.2 running on AI3 computers (unifying models for AI3 and AI4)
  • True Smart Summon
  • Cybertruck Auto-Parking 📐
  • Eye-tracking support for sunglasses 🕶️
  • End-to-end neural networks for highway driving 🛣️
  • Cybertruck FSD 📐

October 2024

  • FSD-enabled parking, pulling out, and reversing
  • Version 13: Increases the miles between necessary interventions by approximately sixfold

Q1 2025

  • FSD launch in Europe (pending regulatory approval) 🌍
  • FSD launch in China (pending regulatory approval) 🇨🇳

Two hours ago, Elon replied to the post with additional information:

"There’s a good chance we’ll launch in right-hand drive markets by late Q1 or early Q2, pending regulatory approval."

Earlier, during Tesla's 2024 Q2 earnings call, Musk stated that Tesla would seek regulatory approval in Europe and China to implement supervised Full Self-Driving (FSD), with approval expected by the end of this year. However, it now appears that the timeline for FSD's entry into China has been delayed once again.

Last night, Ashok Elluswamy, head of the Autopilot/FSD team, made a rare interaction on X with Tesla’s official Cybertruck account, announcing that the Cybertruck Auto-Park feature would be released this weekend.

In a post by X user Dirty Tesla demonstrating his Tesla's Smart Summon feature, another user, The Cybertruck Guy, replied with a meme, joking about how, while S3XY owners are enjoying the latest features, Cybertruck owners are left sinking into despair, waiting for their moment to shine.

Dirty Tesla responded: "Nobody cares about your Cybertruck, learn how to drive."

The official Tesla Cybertruck account tagged Ashok and said: "Teach me how to drive!"

Ashok replied:
"We’re glad you've finally learned how to park yourself—looking forward to seeing you in action this weekend."

The FSD timeline for China announced today is largely in line with Elon’s previous statements.

On the morning of July 24, during Tesla's Q2 earnings call, Elon responded to a question from Barclays analyst Dan Levy regarding FSD, saying:

"I should also mention that the deployment of self-driving capabilities outside of North America is significantly behind North America. With the release of version 12.5, or perhaps 12.6—anyway, soon—we will seek regulatory approval for supervised FSD in Europe, China, and other countries.

I think there's a chance we could receive approval by the end of the year. This will obviously become a significant demand driver in these regions."
