Tesla China Sales Jump 24% in June as Gigafactory Shanghai Hits 89K

Tesla China sales continued to build momentum in June, giving the company its strongest monthly performance of 2026 so far. New data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) shows that Gigafactory Shanghai wholesaled 89,091 vehicles during the month, a 24.43% increase from a year ago. The result also marked the eighth straight month of year-over-year growth, showing that Tesla remains one of the strongest players in China's highly competitive EV market.

Gigafactory Shanghai Delivers Its Best Month of 2026

Gigafactory Shanghai produced and shipped 89,091 vehicles in June, slightly higher than the 85,982 units reported in May. While the month-over-month gain was modest, it pushed the factory to its highest monthly output of the year.

The wholesale figure includes vehicles sold within China as well as cars exported to overseas markets. That makes Shanghai one of Tesla's most important production hubs, supplying customers across Asia, Europe, and other regions.

Tesla China Sales Continue an Eight-Month Growth Streak

The latest numbers are more impressive because they extend a long period of consistent growth. June became the eighth consecutive month in which Tesla China reported higher wholesale volumes than the same month a year earlier.

That kind of consistency stands out in a market where price competition remains intense. Nearly every major EV brand in China has introduced discounts or incentives over the past year, yet Tesla has continued to maintain strong demand for its vehicles.

Strong Demand Helps Tesla Stay Competitive

China remains the world's largest electric vehicle market, and every automaker is fighting for market share. Local brands continue launching new models at aggressive prices, making the competition tougher than ever.

Even in that environment, Tesla has managed to keep attracting buyers. Financing offers, regional incentives, and the continued popularity of the Model Y have helped support demand, while the Model 3 remains a popular option for drivers looking for a premium electric sedan.

What Tesla June Sales Mean for Buyers

Strong Tesla June sales are good news for the company, but they also matter to customers. Healthy demand suggests that Tesla continues to have confidence in its pricing strategy, making large price cuts less likely in the near term.

For buyers planning to order a new Tesla, higher production at Gigafactory Shanghai also helps keep inventory flowing to both domestic and export markets. That could support stable delivery times even as demand remains high.

A Strong Finish to the First Half of 2026

June closed out the first half of 2026 on a positive note for Tesla China. With its highest monthly wholesale volume of the year and another double-digit year-over-year increase, the company enters the second half of the year with solid momentum.

Investors and Tesla owners will now be watching whether this trend continues through the rest of 2026. If Gigafactory Shanghai can maintain this pace, Tesla will remain in a strong position as competition across the global EV market continues to grow.
